For the most part, dolls of this time period were made of composition, hard plastic or early vinyls. While many companies were still producing dolls of bisque & china , these mediums were generally held to be too expensive to produce at this time.  Composition & plastic were much more cost effect, easier to work with & ultimately proved to be extremely durable.  One of the best things about dolls produced with these materials is that many of them still survive today - in very good condition.
